A neck you can rock out with
Jason Hook is known for his clean, on-point lead playing that spans a stylistic range from blistering speed riffs to subtle, melodic tone-shaping passages. The mahogany neck with granadilla fingerboard and 22, Super Jumbo frets on this SlimTaper design are ideal for bending, finger-tapping, and chording. The feel and response of this beautifully designed neck let you move through the range of stylistic tone and attack with ease as you explore and find your own unique sound.
Loaded for tone
To get that searing, versatile tone that Hook is known for, the M-4 features a Seymour Duncan SH-1 Vintage “59 Humbucker pickup in the neck position and a Seymour Duncan SH-4 “JB” Humbucker in the bridge. The SH-1 Vintage ’59 is modeled after Seth Lover’s original P.A.F.-style pickups with a slightly scooped midrange that keeps the infamous squeal at bay, allowing for a beautiful, clean sound to come through. And the Seymour Duncan SH-4 “JB” Humbucker is the quintessential hot-rodded humbucker, producing thick low end, a crisp, detailed high-end, and a midrange “punch” that doesn’t get muddied in the mix.
Extra details, fine appointments
The M-4 also features other top-notch appointments, like Grover Locking Mini-Rotomatics tuners that look great and keep your tuning locked and loaded. There’s also a LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge that adds even more tonal support, so you can attack the neck with confidence that you won’t go out of tune. There’s even an Epiphone non-rotating Heavy Duty Output Jack that keeps your cable firmly connected during play and keeps the entire output jack firmly in place over time — no annoying buzzing and crackling from loose jacks as you play. Finally, a super rockin’ red-on-white “Sherman” graphic design on the body makes this already unique instrument even more of a standout on stage.
